Miguel Banuelos’ Kuhl Wave brings in a strong stakes resume at Remington Park this spring to Arapahoe Park to head the $26,370 Merial Arapahoe Distaff Challenge on Saturday afternoon at the track near Denver.

Kuhl Wave (Wave Carver-Shazooms Doll by Shazoom) made three stakes starts at Remington Park and responded with a win, a second and a third-place finish. She was third in the Decketta Stakes (G3) and then won the $52,500 Mr Master Bug Handicap (R) before wrapping up her campaign with a very close second-place finish in the $54,000 Easy Date Handicap, beaten by just a nose.

Trained by Jose Aguilera, Kuhl Wave won the Mr Master Bug over Oklahoma-bred males by a half length and the former $7,500 claim covered the 350 yards in :17.455.

Hugo Barron Sierra’s Hooray Cowgirl (Separatist-Hooray Baby by Dash For Cash) is back after making her most recent start last summer at Arapahoe Park. The Jose Barron-trained mare won her 2012 Mile High Derby trial by one-half length and qualified for the derby.
