Kite Flyer Back in Red Cell
Red Cell Championship placed runner returns in Sam Houston Distance Challenge.
April 26, 2012
Dark Horse Partnership’s Kite Flyer makes his first start since a third-place run in the Red Cell Distance Challenge Championship (G1) when he faces five rivals over 870 yards in the $22,500 Red Cell Sam Houston Distance Challenge on Saturday night at Sam Houston Race Park.
Kite Flyer (Royal Quick Dash-Cymbidiam by Tommy De Great) has benefitted from well-spaced starts. A year ago, he won at Retama Park in July, rolled to a 3 1/2-length win in the Red Cell Lone Star Distance Challenge in September and then shipped to Los Alamitos and raced to a game third-place finish in the Red Cell Distance Challenge Championship.
Noah Powell’s Mysterious Streaker (Streakin La Jolla-Mysterious Dreams by Dash For Cash) is an 11-year-old gelding making a class jump for the Red Cell Sam Houston Distance Challenge. The Judd Kearl-trained veteran of 34 starts was fourth for a $5,000 claiming tag two starts ago and then held the lead before saving second in a Louisiana Downs optional-claiming race.
Cynthia Jerman’s Bok Man (Boknaai-One Fine Devon (TB) by Devon Lane) makes his stakes debut after racing in claiming and allowance company. He was third at the $15,000-claiming level in his latest start and second in a $29,000 allowance race at Sunland Park in February.
