Jessanoldlove Tops LQHBA Futurity Trials
Longshot earns fastest qualifying time for $1 million final.

Evangeline Downs on Friday held 11 trials for the $1 million LQHBA Breeders' Futurity (RG1), and the fastest qualifying time did not come until the final heat when 18-1 longshot Jessanoldlove dashed 400 yards in :19.680. The Jess Louisiana Blue filly earned a 99 speed index with David Alvarez riding for trainer Guadalupe Garza Jr. and owner Eduardo Lopez. The final is set to be contested on November 16.
Jessanoldlove, who finished fourth twice and fifth once in her three prior starts, was bred by J.E. Jumonville Jr. and will enter the rich final with earnings of just $6,000 and the chance to take home the $445,000 first-place check.
Two-time stakes winner Bradys March Madness posted the second-fastest time of :19.715 with Randy Edison in the saddle for trainer Miguel Rodriguez. Owned by Jesse Rodriguez Jr. and also sired by Jess Louisiana Blue, Bradys March Madness has compiled a record of 6-3-1-2 with wins in the De Saix Stakes at Fair Grounds and Louisiana Breeders’ Laddie Futurity (RG2) at Delta Downs. The gelding also finished second in the Mardi Gras Futurity (RG2).
T M Ranch’s Ol Time Preacher Man, a gelding by Heza Fast Man who finished second in the LQHBA Sale Futurity (RG1) at Fair Grounds, broke his maiden in the fourth trial with the third-fastest time of :19.716. Jesse Chavis rode for trainer Kenneth Roberts Sr.
FJR Bread N Butter, winner of the Lee Berwick Memorial Louisiana-Bred Futurity (RG1) at Delta Downs, won the first heat with the fourth-fastest time.
