Its All About Chew Wins WRD Maiden Challenge

Royal Blue Chew Chew filly picks up second career victory.

November 3, 2013

Patricia Miller’s homebred Its All About Chew broke on top and was never headed before hitting the wire a length in front to win the $28,644 Will Rogers Maiden Challenge at the Claremore, Oklahoma, track on Sunday. Piloted by Ivan Carnero and trained by Dee Kerner, the Washington-bred filly by Royal Blue Chew Chew dashed 350 yards in :17.675 as the 6-5 favorite.

Its All About Chew has spent her entire five-race career at Will Rogers, where she finished eighth in her debut and has since compiled two wins and two seconds. The filly was still a maiden as of the September 1 nomination date for the race, but she found the winner’s circle later that month and then finished a good second against allowance foes in her next out. All told, she has banked $27,139.

Maiden Also A Feature hit the board for the seventh time in 11 starts with a second-place finish for owner Chris Likens. The Feature Mr Jess gelding competed in the Adequan Prairie Meadows Derby Challenge (G3) earlier in the year. The FDD Dynasty filly Bootleggers Miss, owned by Shaena Carter, took third.
