Leo Butell and Mike Schau’s Hada Certain Charm stands out in the $42,000 Minnesota Stallion Breeders Futurity on Sunday at Canterbury Park after setting the fastest-qualifying time and leading the top-four qualifiers out of their trial.

Hada Certain Charm (Hadtobenuts-LK Classy Perk by Dash For Perks) was last in a Remington Park maiden race in May and then made a huge move forward in his Minnesota Stallion Breeders Futurity trial to win by 2 1/2 lengths as the 6-5 favorite.

The Ed Hardy-trained Hada Certain Charm covered the 350 yards in :18.169 for the quickest mark from the two trials.

Tracy Black’s Shes Zoomin Whiz (Zoomin For Bux-Brandi Whiz by Oh My Gee Whiz) was well behind Hada Certain Charm, yet still came though with the second-fastest qualifying time of :18.567. The Casey Black-trained filly was sixth in a Remington Park maiden race in her debut.

Gloria Myers’ Hastabealeader (Hasta Be Fast-Leadmetoyourladder by Special Leader) won his maiden by a length in his first start at the Brown Co. Fair in May before a third-place finish behind Hada Certain Charm and Shes Zoomin Whiz at 5-2 odds for trainer Robert Johnson.
