September 2, 2012

Winning for the second time in as many starts, Oklahoma-bred HH Guns Drawn got up to capture Saturday’s $86,250 Iowa Double Gold Futurity (RG3) at Prairie Meadows for progeny of eligible stallions. Berkley Packer rode the Jess Louisiana Blue gelding to a nose victory in :17.763 for 350 yards as the 9-5 favorite.

Trained by Brent Clay and owned by Wade Helton and Bradley Hale, HH Guns Drawn won his August 18 trial by a head and this second victory increased his bankroll to $37,500. Co-owner Hale bred HH Guns Drawn out of the Corona Cartel mare Cosmic Corona.

High Handed Attitude, a gelded son of the Mr Jess Perry stallion Jonathan Perry, got up to take second for owner Dalton Gold. Brad Tate’s homebred Woow, by Ivory James, had an early lead and held on for third.
