Top qualifiers Nellie Delaney and Revv Me Up, each with Grade 1 experience, hold the top-two qualifying spots for this Sunday’s $125,000 Los Alamitos Maiden Stakes on Sunday night. This race is not an official stakes, by AQHA rules.

J. Garvan Kelly and Nancy Yearsley’s Nellie Delaney (FDD Dynasty-Fleeting Touch by Tres Seis) topped the qualifiers from the five trials when she broke her maiden by three-quarters of a length with a :17.326 time for the 350 yards for trainer Arnoldo Pulido.

While the trial win was her maiden score, Nellie Delaney had raced to four seconds and a pair of third-place finishes in her eight previous efforts. Last spring, she raced to a third-place finish in the Heritage Place Juvenile (R) and then went to Ruidoso Downs and qualified for the Rainbow Futurity (G1).

Cina and John Sperry’s Revv Me Up (Stel Corona-Revv It Up by First Down Dash) was second to Nellie Delaney in their trial with the second-fastest qualifying time of :17.449. The Paul Jones-trained filly qualified for the Ed Burke Million Futurity (G1) and the Kindergarten (G2) before she was sidelined for five months. She came back in December to finish second in a Los Alamitos maiden race before finishing second behind Nellie Delaney in their trial.

Dennie and Kris Hill’s SFR Stuck On You (Stel Corona-LDS Good Goin Gracie by Proudest Effort) dominated her trial by 1 1/2 lengths with the third-fastest time of :17.463. The Bret Vickery-trained filly was second in her three previous starts, all Los Alamitos maiden races.
