Alan and Tawn Perkins' homebred Sheaintcrynrealtears defeated My Te Fast Cat by a head to post the fastest qualifying time for the John Deere Retama Juvenile Challenge on Saturday evening.

The 10 fastest qualifiers from five trial races contested will return to Retama Park on August 11 and vie for the winner's share of a $25,000-added purse and an invite to the $150,000 John Deere Juvenile Challenge Championship (G2) on October 27 at Prairie Meadows.

Saddled by Jesse Yoakum and ridden by Jerry Yoakum, Sheaintcrynrealtears completed the 350 yards in :17.748. She scored her second win in seven starts this season. The Jet Cartel filly out of Tear Drop Six, by Sixarun, was fourth in the $81,002 Old South Futurity at Delta Downs in May.

Still looking for his first win in three starts, My Te Fast Cat put in a solid effort to collect the second-fastest time of :17.787. Leon Bard trains the Panther Mountain gelding out of Takin Up The Ante, by Takin On The Cash, for owner/breeder Twin Spires Farms. Ricardo Aguirre had the riding assignment.
