Fearles Fred Wins Don Boyd Challenge

Veteran gelding picks up 16th career win in stakes at Michigan track.

Multiple stakes winner Fearles Fred got up Sunday afternoon to win the $15,660 Don Boyd Memorial Bonus Challenge Stakes at Mt. Pleasant Meadows. It was his 16th career win and 10th stakes victory in 32 starts.

Under jockey Christian Esqueda, the 6-year-old Fredricksburg gelding completed the 350 yards course in :17.860, a 96 speed index. The $7,830 winner's purse boosted his career total to $262,563.

Carol Rettele trains the homebred out of Precious Debutante, by Heza Fast Man, for Walter 'Dick' Harrison.

Cesar Rosales 5-year-old Speed Smith also earned a 96 speed index while getting out-nodded for the victory. Rolando Almanza trains the Prime Talent horse out of Speedy Empress, by First Down Dash. Bred in Texas by Sylvia Shaw Pitman, Speed Smith added $3,367 to raise his bankroll to $120,024. Juan Delgado was aboard.

MCM Tres Episode finished three-quarters back in the show position for owner/trainer Renee Wilson. Ridden by Daniel Rose the Tres Seis filly was bred in Louisiana by MCM Farm LLC. Out of the Frist Down Dash mare Sheza First Episode, MCM Tres Episode picked up $1,723 for the effort.

Tough To Get Six, Stitches 123 and Seiswho completed the field.
