Secrets Fly, FDD Going Grand win Delta Stakes.

Cynthia Allen’s Secrets Fly won the $77,345 Old South Futurity at Delta Downs on Saturday night under jockey Bobby Ransom. The winner defeated A Noble Jess Elie by a head after launching a furious late rally in the 330-yard event. Ms Kalies Fortune finished another neck behind the top two in third.

Secrets Fly covered the distance of the Old South Futurity in :16.618 seconds, which earned him a speed index of 94. Secrets Fly came into the race as the fastest qualifier from trials held at Delta Downs on April 27.

The win by Secrets Fly was the third of his four-race career. He earned $38,672 for his effort and his lifetime bankroll now stands at $54,550. Secrets Fly, who is trained by Vann Haywood, is a gelding by No Secrets Here out of the Strawfly Special mare Once Upon A Fly. He was bred in Oklahoma by Jovetta Meredith.

In other action on Saturday, it was FDD Going Grand who won the $44,807 Old South Derby at 400 yards under jockey Jesse Chavis. The Kenneth L. Roberts Sr. trainee defeated Hot Hitting by 1 1/4 lengths while Jessflybayou wound up another half-length behind in third.

FDD Going Grand, a colt by FDD Dynasty owned and bred by Mercy Hinklin’s Horse Farm LLC, now has a record of 9-3-4-1 with earnings of $115,480. FDD Going Grand finished second in last year’s Dash For Cash Futurity (G1) at Lone Star Park and this marked his first stakes victory.
