Fales Have Top Two in ASOA Futurity

Fales have strong hand with their ASOA Futurity entries.

December 13, 2012

Owners Ralph and Carolyn Fales and trainer Matt Fales seem to have everything going their way in the Margie Bryan ASOA Futurity on Sunday with the two fastest qualifiers and those horses winning each of the two trials.

The Faleses’ Harlee Tucker (Heza Motor Scooter-Phenomena by Rocky Jones) won the first trial by three quarters of a length in :20.201 for 400 yards to lead the qualifiers and win her maiden in his third start. She showed her stakes class two starts ago when she raced in the Arizona QRA Futurity (R).

The Faleses’ other entry, Madd Dog (Dog Daze Afternoon-Merri Roc by Rocky Jones), could gain the favorite’s role. He was first in the Desert Classic Futurity and third in the AZQRA Futurity. The homebred gelding dominated his ASOA Futurity trial by daylight as the 6-5 favorite, with the second-fastest qualifying time of :20.329.

Earlier on the card, Armando De La Riva’s Famous Photo (Famous Lane-Quick To De Photo (TB) by Hapgood) tries older horses in the $15,000 Turf Paradise Championship after finishing second in the AQRA Turf Paradise Derby.

The Sergio Garcia-trained gelding has only started four times, however, he has two wins and two second-place efforts.
