Herds Racing’s Exciting The Planet scored a game victory in Saturday’s $25,017 Adequan Evergreen Park Derby Challenge in Grande Prairie, Alberta. The Alberta-bred gelding by Dash Ta Fame prevailed by a neck in :20.02 for 400 yards with Tyler Walker in the irons for trainer Donalda Cochrane.

Bred by Earl Brown out of the Lanes Leinster mare Cash In This Lane, Exciting The Planet increased her earnings to $19,395 and earned a spot in the $200,000 Adequan Derby Challenge Championship (G1) on October 27 at Prairie Meadows in Iowa. This was the first stakes win for Exciting The Planet, who finished second in last year’s All Canadian Futurity of Alberta.

Dean Frey’s Shez Jess Toxic, who won last year’s John Deere Evergreen Park Juvenile Challenge and then won the John Deere Juvenile Challenge Championship (G2) in a dead heat, finished a game second as the 7-5 favorite.

Cecil West’s CR Lil Bit Of Ivory finished a clear third.
