Ethics Aside Wins Hialeah Bonus Challenge

Ethics Aside wins Roble Rojo Bonus Challenge at Hialeah.

The royally bred 6-year-old horse Ethics Aside earned his first black type victory Sunday afternoon with an impressive win in the $22,000 Roble Rojo Bonus Challenge Stakes at Hialeah Park.

Under jockey Jeremy Garcia, Ethics Aside broke on top and pulled away from the field easily to defeat the recent Hialeah Park stakes winner Jess Phenomenal by 1 ¼ lengths. Jess On A High put in a mild bid to finish a neck back in third. Owned and trained by Jorge Luis Gonzalez, Ethics Aside earned his fourth win in 22 lifetime starts. The $13,200 winner's purse pushed his career total to nearly $51,000. The sorrel completed the 300 yard course in :15.171 seconds to earn a 105 speed index.

Joe Kirk Fulton bred the son of Mr Jess Perry in Texas from the Grade 1-winning Victory Dash mare Daring Difference. As 2-year-old Daring Difference won the Heritage Place Futurity(G1) and earned $329,000. She is the dam of six stakes horses including Gr 3 placed Splendifferous, a full sister to Ethics Aside.

Jess Phenomenal earned $4,400 for owner Allejandro Medina. The gelded son of leading sire Feature Mr Jess came into the race off a January 22 win in the Bayan Tree Stakes at Hialeah Park. Ricardo Martinez conditions with Francisco Raul Ramirez, Jr., riding. Celina Molina bred the 7-year-old in Arizona from the Casady Casanova mare Miss Mighty Casady.

David Eastwood own-trains and bred Jess On A High who earned $2,200 for finishing third. Cesar Carillo rode the 4-year-old son of Fly Jess Fly out of High On Piaget, by On A High.

Completing the field were Oh My Gol Sis, Bold Badon, Aquafina, and Speed Smith. Flyingwitheagles and Jessgonnafly were both scratched.
