Cowboy Kudzu Wins Prairie Meadows Bonus Challenge

Arizona-bred wins for the fifth time in nine starts.

Four-year-old Cowboy Kudzu rolled to a three-quarter length win over Abreez in the $18,700 Prairie Meadows Bonus Challenge on Saturday. Summit Bid finished half-a-length back in the show position.

William Harris saddled Cowboy Kudzu to his fifth win in nine starts for owner/breeder Lloyd Yother. The Separatist gelding out of Gone Not Forgotten, by Heza Fast Man, earned $10,659 to boost her career record over $90,500.

Under jockey Stormy Smith, the Arizona-bred completed the 350-yard course in :17.618, a 94 speed index.

Abreez earned $3,179 for her second-place effort. Miguel Banuelos owns the PYC Paint Your Wagon 5-year-old mare out of Jos Wild Rose, by Magical Mile (TB). Jose Ibarra trains with Raul Ramirez Jr. riding.

William Harris also saddled third-place finisher Summit Bid for owners/breeders Donald and Peggy Boyle. Berkley Packer rode the Oregon-bred son of Mountain Majesty out of the champion producer Shirleys Strawfly, by Strawfly Special. The 6-year-old earned $2,057 for the effort.

Painted Lies, Legacys A Streakin, Streaked Face Bay, Feelin The Fever and Exciting The Planet completed the field. Ward Ed was scratched.
