Jorge Hernandez’s Chicks Special Angel tries for her 11th consecutive win and her first stakes win when she comes into the $60,000-added Bank of America Emerald Downs Challenge as the fastest qualifier on Sunday afternoon.

Chicks Special Angel (Chickspecialmongoose-CFF Plain Jane by Super Bowl Dash) started her winning streak as a $4,000 claimer and was picked up by her current owner for a $5,000 tag in December 2011. The 5-year-old mare then moved up to allowance ranks in the Northwest before entering her Bank of America Emerald Downs Challenge trial.

Trained by Juan Sanguino, Chicks Special Angel rolled to a 2 1/4-length win in the second of two trials, with the fastest-qualifying time of :21.728 for the 440 yards and set a track record.

Gerado Prado’s Vodka With Ice (Stoli-Hips So Fine by Extra Easy) raced to his 10th career win from 45 starts when he won the other trial by a neck, with the second-fastest time of :22.078.

The 8-year-old Vodka With Ice was a close second, beaten by a head, in the 2011 Bank of America Emerald Downs Challenge and came back last year to finish third in the race.

Adrian Quinones-owned and -trained Snowbound Superchick (Snowbound (TB)-Chicks Starlite by Chicks Beduino) was second behind Chicks Special Angle, with the third-fastest qualifying time of :22.080. The 4-year-old gelding has been on the board in each of his six starts this year and comes off a pair of second-place finishes.
