In the richer of the two events, CR Strawflyn Bux picked up his second stakes win of the season with a decisive 2 ½-length victory. Ridden by Teagan Oulton for trainer Allen Goodsell, the gelding by Zoomin For Bux hit the wire in :18.06 while racing into a 28 mph headwind at 350 yards. Bred in Alberta by Roger Gauthier, the brown gelding earned $30,510 for owners Brian Weatherill and Shane Carter Ray.

In the Canada Cup Derby, owners Barry and Janice Sather swept the exacta with Tailor Tac prevailing by a nose over BB Secrets Jet Black. Janice Sather also trains both horses. Tailor Tac, the 5-2 favorite ridden by Scott Sterr, dashed 400 yards in :20.70 for his third straight win and first stakes victory. The Tac It Like A Man gelding was bred in Louisiana by Double Bar S Ranch LLC and has now banked $18,346.
Runner-up BB Secrets Jet Black, a Louisiana-bred gelding by Jet Black Patriot, had the lead early and just missed out on the victory. Ed Borgstrom’s One Famous Eagle filly Coronas Feathery got third.
