November 24, 2012
J and M Racing and Farm’s Call Me A Blazn Chic pushed her bankroll beyond the $500,000 mark with a game victory in Saturday’s $149,960 New Mexico Fillies and Mares Championship Stakes (RG1) at Zia Park. Piloted by Esgar Ramirez for trainer Jaime Dominguez, the 3-year-old daughter of Chicks A Blazin prevailed by a neck with a 400-yard clocking in :19.704.
This marked the second Restricted Grade 1 win for Call Me A Blazn Chic, who also captured the Zia Futurity (RG1) in addition to the New Mexico Classic Futurity (RG2) and Pelican Stakes (RG3). Her record now stands at 14-6-4-2 with earnings of $542,875. Mike Abraham bred Call Me A Blazn Chic out of the Grade 3-winning Calyx mare Willie Call Me.
Sierra Moseley’s Wonwabbitwon, a 5-year-old mare by Rabbits Rainbow, put in a strong effort under jockey Alejandro Medellin to take second. Edilberto Estrada’s Little Bit Southern, a two-time stakes winner by Southern Corona, finished third.
