All American Futurity Trial Updates

Ruidoso Downs holds 26 trials for the sport's richest race.

Ruidoso Downs hosted 26 trials today for the $2.4-milllion All American Futurity (G1), set to be run on Labor Day at the New Mexico track, and the Q-Racing Journal is providing trial-by-trial updates throughout the day with a recap of each race and an unofficial list of qualifiers. Notes - In the 26th and final trial for the $2.4-million All American Futurity, One Dashing Eagle ran his way into the final with a 440-yard clocking of :21.369. The One Famous Eagle colt, who won the Ed Burke Million Futurity (G1) at Los Alamitos Race Course, earned the sixth-fastest time. Also out of the final trial, Sudden Thoughts, a gelding by Wave Carver, ran a time of :21.404 to grab the 10th-fastest time.

Notes - In the 25th All American Futurity trial, we had a dead heat between Aha Moment and BP Cartels Alibi, who both hit the wire in :21.385 to tie for the sixth/seventh fastest time of the day so far. BPs Cartels Alibi won the Heritage Place Futurity (G1) in his last start, while Aha Moment ran second in a trial to the Rainbow Futurity (G1).

She is now a perfect five-for-five, including a victory in the Ruidoso Futurity (G1). Owned by Dennis C. Bowen, Susan Taylor and Jack Smith Farms, PJ Chick In Black was ridden by Esgar Ramirez for trainer John Stinebaugh. The daughter of Desirio was bred in New Mexico by Fredda Draper.

That gives trainer Ralph Muniz and jockey Oscar Rincon back-to-back wins. Second-place finisher JJs Gone ran :21.524, which is currently the 10th-fastest time.
