A bill in the Wyoming legislature that would provide benefit to the Wyoming horse industry continues to progress, and horsemen are encouraged to take action.

The Wyoming legislature is considering House Bill 25, Simulcasting of Pari-mutuel Events. AQHA has endorsed this bill because it will substantially benefit Wyoming's horse industry by allowing operators of Off Track Betting (OTB) parlors to take advantage of new technology which provides opportunities for consumers to participate in games of skill based on historical horse races. The bill is expected to help increase revenue to breeders, purses and race meets. It is projected that after the first full year of operation purse money will increase to $1.1 million and revenue to the Breeder’s Trust Fund will increase to $500,000.

The bill is scheduled to be heard in the Senate Agriculture Committee on Tuesday, February 5th.  Wyoming horsemen are encouraged to call their Senate Agriculture Committee Member and urge them to vote yes on HB 25 to help this bill advance to full Senate consideration.
