Press ReleaseJanuary 30, 2013
A bill in the Wyoming legislature that would provide benefit to the Wyoming horse industry continues to progress, and horsemen are encouraged to take action. The Wyoming legislature is considering House Bill 25, Simulcasting of Pari-mutuel Events. AQHA has endorsed this bill because it will substantially benefit Wyoming's horse industry by allowing operators of Off Track Betting (OTB) parlors to take advantage of new technology which provides opportunities for consumers to participate in games of skill based on historical horse races. The bill is expected to help increase revenue to breeders, purses and race meets. It is projected that after the first full year of operation purse money will increase to $1.1 million and revenue to the Breeder’s Trust Fund will increase to $500,000.
