The Welfare and Safety of the Racehorse Summit, being held October 16-17 at Keenland in Lexington, Kentucky, is open to the public and is available via live streaming video.

The Summit runs October 16 from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Eastern, and 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on October 17.

The Summit is coordinated and funded by The Jockey Club and Grayson-Jockey Club Research Foundation.

Among the topics to be discussed are corticosteroid use, pre-race inspections, and post-retirement programs. Speakers include Jockey Club Executive Director Matt Iuliano, researchers Dr. Mick Peterson, Dr. Mary Scollay, Dr. Tim Parkin, Dr. Larry Bramlage and Dr. Wayne McIlwrath.

The summit will also include a round-table discussion by trainers on horsemanship and two panels discussing the process of implementing new safety initiatives and the establishment and maintenance of post-retirement programs.
