Grade 1 winner Volcom will stand the 2014 breeding season at AVS Equine Hospital at Tallahassee, Florida. The 10-year-old stallion will stand for an introductory fee of $1,500.

Volcom is an accredited Florida stallion, and all of his foals will be accredited Florida-breds, regardless of where they are foaled. All of his foals would also be eligible for the 20 percent Florida-bred bonus for horses running first through fourth at a Florida race, as well as the $200,000-guaranteed Sunshine State Derby.

Owned by P.K. Thomas, Volcom raced 23 times, winning 11 races with three seconds and three thirds. He has earnings of $430,433 and a top speed index of 97.

Racing exclusively at Los Alamitos, Volcom won the El Primero Del Ano Derby (G1), Los Alamitos Winter Championship (G1) and Los Alamitos Prep Handicap. He was second in the Los Alamitos Super Derby (G1) and third in the Governor’s Cup Futurity (RG1). He also contested the Los Alamitos Winter Derby (G1), Golden State Derby (G1), Spencer Childers California Breeders Championship (RG1), Champion of Champions (G1), Vessels Maturity (G1) and Southern California Derby (G1).

Bred by John Andreini, Volcom is by all-time leading sire and sire of sires First Down Dash. American Quarter Horse Hall of Fame member First Down Dash has sired the earners of more than $80.8 million. He is a leading sire of sires and broodmare sire.

Volcom comes from a strong female line. His dam Runaway Vike has produced 12 winners from 15 starters, including full siblings that include Grade 1-runner up Dashing Vike ($142,532), stakes-placed and Grade 1-finalist Hi Tori ($40,326) and stakes-placed JA Call Collect ($47,868). She is out of the Grade 1 winner Miss Racy Vike, and a half sister to champion Miss Racy Jess (by Mr Jess Perry, $485,113) and six-figure earners Miss Racy Eyes (by Mr Eye Opener, $133,195) and Vikes Iota (by Mr Eye Opener, $103,709).

Volcom has sired three crops to race with 32 winners from 58 starters and earners of more than $866,000. In his first crop, he sired All American Futurity (G1) finalist and Grade 1-placed Lethal Volt. He is also the sire of stakes winner Volcoms Special Pop ($30,699) and Volcoms Heart ($17,315), as well as stakes-placed runners Zack Of Hearts ($77,560), Miss Kara ($62,247), Bestogne ($35,165), Volcom Topper ($12,333) and Heza Volcom ($16,082).

Last year he was No. 9 on the second-year sires by earnings and currently is No. 11 on third-year sires by earnings.
