Utah Sale Posts Increases

Winners Version filly tops sale at $6,500.

Utah Quarter Horse Racing Association

The Utah Quarter Horse Association Fall Mixed Sale on Saturday ended on a strong note with double-digit percentage increases across the board.

The one-day sale registered a 27% improvement in average to $2,947 and a 20% increase in median to $2,250 compared to last year. Total sales were up 37% to $100,200 for the 34 head marked sold from the 61 cataloged. Seven head were out.

Owen and Justin Thompson's Thompson Racing paid $6,500 for the high-seller Version Blue (Hip#58), a yearling filly by leading first crop sire of stakes winners Winners Version. Chad Richard was the consignor.

Second high-seller Flash N The Girls (Hip #43), a 2012 colt by Ivory James, was purchased for $6,200 from The Running A LLC by Uriel Dominguez of West Valley City, Utah.

Third high-seller was a 2-year-old filly named Authentic Kate (Hip #12) by Coronas Fast Dash for $6,000. She was consigned by Jeannie Hullinger and purchased by Jeannie Anderson of South Jordan, Utah.

Gary Laramie was the sale’s leading buyer with two purchases for $9,200. Thompson Racing bought two for $8,500.

Gary Carmichael led all consignors and agents with five head selling for $17,200. The Running A LLC sold three head for $14,700, and Gary Laramie had six head bring $12,200.

Winners Version was the leading yearling sale sire (by average with two or more sold) with two for an average of $5,750. Tac It Like a Man had two head average $4,750, and Famous Lane had two head for an average of $3,550.
