TQHA Sale Opens Thursday

TQHA will kick off their annual racing Quarter Horse Yearling Sale with a free consignor and buyers BBQ dinner on Thursday evening, July 26, at the Freeman Coliseum and Expo Hall in San Antonio.

The two-day sale, scheduled for Friday, July 27, and Saturday, July 28, will begin at 10:30 a.m. each day. Hips 1 thru 176 are scheduled for the first session, followed by 177 thru 352 on Saturday. Both sessions will be conducted in the climate-controlled comfort of the Exposition Hall at The Freeman.

The Bank of America Racing Challenge-sponsored Cooper's BBQ dinner will begin at 5 p.m. Thursday. Attendees are encouraged to stop by the AQHA booth to register for a $300 Challenge voucher. There will be four free vouchers drawn each day of the sale for AQHA members. The TQHA is raffling off a custom 48 inch cooker/smoker to benefit the TQHA Political Action Committee (PAC). Tickets can be purchased at the TQHA booth at the sale.

All yearlings that pass through the sale ring are eligible to participate in the $100,000-added TQHA Sale Futurity (RG2) trials in 2013.

Sale patrons are also invited to enjoy the racing festivities at nearby Retama Park on Friday and Saturday night following the sale each day. Friday's race card will feature the "Texas Summer Showdown" and on Saturday the finals for the $400,000 TQHA Sale Futurity(RG2) and the $75,000-added Retama Park Derby (G3) will be contested. First post each night is 6:45 p.m.
