Special Crown Royal Dies

Hebert Quarter Horses reported on September 28 that Julien Stevens, III's stakes winning stallion Special Crown Royal died on September 21.
The 10-year-old multiple stakes siring son of Chicks Beduino sired 35 winners, two stakes winners and earners of more than $1.62 million in four crops to race. Among his get were stakes winners Royal Holland Ease ($105,891), No Crown Tonight ($65,525), stakes-placed Sip Of Crown ($69,121) and nine-time winner Matteos Special ($123,603).
Special Crown Royal won or placed in 10 of 15 starts to 3, earning $76,551. He won the Pomona Juvenile Championship was second in the Vandy's Flash Handicap(G3) and third in the El Primero Del Ano Derby(G2). The sorrel stallion was also a finalist in the Golden State Derby(G1) and the Jet Deck Handicap.
