Sandy Downs Prepares For Summer Racing

Sandy Downs at Idaho Falls, Idaho, is preparing for its upcoming racing season.

The track will host live racing for six days, from July 12 to July 27.

Again this year, racing at Sandy Downs will be live streamed via IdaBet at, which also allows wagering.

Sandy Downs will also offer the fifth running of the Hawthorne Futurity. The futurity is sponsored by the Hawthorne Animal Hospital, and Dr. Lonna Gerstner and Hawthorne Animal Hospital provide the $10,000 dollars of added money to put on the race. has added $4,000, bringing the race's added money to $14,000. The open futurity is the third leg of the Dutch Masters Triple Crown. In addition, the track will run the $11,500-added Hadtobenuts Derby. The race is sponsored by Dan and Connie Moon, who own Hadtobenuts, and is an open race. The stallion stands at Hawthorne Animal Hospital

In 2012, the $38,242 race was won by Delra Talbot's Dewey Cox. The $22,355 Hadtobenuts Derby was won by Richard Gardner and Jim Hanson's Honoroso.
