A supplemental deadline for this summer’s runnings of the Grade 1, $2.5 million-est. All American; $1 million-est. Rainbow and $750,000-est. Ruidoso derbies is approaching on February 1.

The All American Derby, held on September 1 at 440 yards, is the richest race for 3-year-old Quarter Horses and this year’s renewal is expected to set the all-time record purse. The winner receives an invitation to the $750,000 Champion Of Champions (G1) at Los Alamitos.

The February 1 supplemental fee for the All American Derby is $25,000 and then an $800 payment is due on April 1 and there is a $1,200 time-of-entry payment.

The only other supplemental deadline for this year’s All American Derby is a $50,000 time-of-entry supplement.

Last year, Ochoa won the $2,234,539 All American Derby and that win made him the all-time leading money-earning Quarter Horse. He was named the 2012 champion 3-year-old and champion 3-year-old gelding.

The supplemental fee for the 440-yard Rainbow Derby is $20,000 with following sustaining payments of $800 and $1,200. The time-of-entry supplemental fee is $40,000.

This year’s Rainbow Derby is expected to reach the $1 million mark for the first time. Last year’s purse was $903,774.

The 400-yard Ruidoso Derby has a $15,000 supplemental fee with following sustaining payments of $600 and $1,200. The time-of-entry supplemental fee is $25,000.

There is also a February 1 supplemental deadline for the Zia Derby, Zia Futurity, Mountain Top Quarter Horse Futurity, Mountain Top Thoroughbred Futurity, the Senor Futurity and the Senorita Futurity. These races are for New Mexico-breds.
