The American Quarter Horse Association is now accepting registrations to the 34th Annual Jay Pumphrey Cowboy Classic Memorial Invitational tournament, sponsored by Track magazine and the Monday Report.
“The Pumphrey” coincides each year with the Ruidoso Select Yearling Sale and All American Week at Ruidoso Downs. This year’s event is August 27-28 at The Links at Sierra Blanca in Ruidoso. The tournament is intended to promote fellowship among American Quarter Horse racing enthusiasts and has helped get many newcomers involved in the industry. Racing professionals who enter the tournament are encouraged to invite friends or business associates to join them.
The registration fee is $275 per player, and includes green fees, cart, range balls and an invitation to the post-tourney dinner and awards presentation, sponsored by Coors of Amarillo and Abilene. Complete tournament information and registration forms are available at www.aqharacing.com or by calling AQHA Racing at (806) 378-4362.
The tournament features a pair of hole-in-one prizes: a new Ford F-250 from Whiteface Ford in Hereford, Texas, and $10,000 provided by JEH Stallion Station and JEH Equine Reproduction Specialists.
The Four Sixes Ranch is sponsoring this year’s beverage cart.
Several individual hole sponsorships are still available at $125 per hole, per day. Interested parties should contact AQHA’s Jessica Hanke at (806) 378-4362 or email email@example.com.
