Three-time Grade 1 winner One Famous Eagle, the 2008 champion 3-year-old colt, was represented by his first stakes winner on Friday when his daughter Dashaway Eagle captured the $31,635 AQRA President’s Open Spring Futurity at Turf Paradise. The Texas-bred filly, who was bred by Muller Racing LLC and is owned by Alejandro Uriel Martinez, earned $15,817 for a 300-yard dash in :15.838 with Rodolfo Arvizu riding for trainer Armando Castellanos.
A son of Mr Jess Perry bred by Johnny Trotter and campaigned by Trotter and Burnett Ranches, One Famous Eagle won seven of his 11 career starts, including the Grade 1 Los Alamitos Two Million Futurity, Golden State Derby and Los Alamitos Super Derby. He also finished fourth in the Champion of Champions (G1) before retiring with earnings of $1,387,453.
Dashway Eagle also became One Famous Eagle’s first winner when she won her AQRA trial and set the second-fastest qualifying time. One Famous Eagle’s first crop of runners also includes West Texas Futurity (G1) fourth-place finisher Caballo Famous Eagle and Sam Houston Futurity (G2) finalist One Eyed Eagle.
One Famous Eagle stands at 6666 Ranch near Guthrie, Texas.
