New Stallions in Black Gold Program

OQHRA's Black Gold program welcomes new stallions.

Press Release
December 28, 2012

Paintyourownwagon

Paintyourownwagon is one of the new stallions in the Black Gold program.

As you are making your choice for which stallions to use for 2013, the Oklahoma QHRA encourages you to look for stallions eligible to the Black Gold race program. The Black Gold is open to all stallions, and is the only Futurity program that allows you three opportunities to participate for one single set of payments. In 2013 there will be a total of just over $200,000 added and two qualifying divisions with guaranteed purses of $100,000 each. The top 15 qualifiers from each division will advance to trials for the $450,000 Black Gold Championship.

Stallions recently enrolled for the Black Gold Program include:  Bodacious Dash, Brookstone Bay, First Down Vike, Duke Kahanamaku, Givenitaroyaleffort, Rushago, The Louisiana Cartel, Paintyourownwagon, Harems Last Dash, I Got Your Tac, and Mighty B Valiant. For a complete list of Black Gold Stallions please see our website at www.oqhra.com or contact OQHRA at oqhra2@aol.com.

Stallions earn 5 percent of all purses for Stallion awards.  Awards will exceed $36,000 in 2013.  If your stallion is not yet enrolled it’s not too late.  For stallions breeding their first mares this season the fee is $2,500 prior to breeding the first mare.  Stallions that have already been used for breeding require a $5,000 fee.  The lifetime single enrollment fee makes all offspring from a stallion eligible as long as there are foals of racing age from that stallion.  The Black Gold is NOT a state-bred race program and all horses sired by eligible stallions are eligible for these races.
