Freshman Works Start at Los Al

Two-year-old workouts begin at Los Alamitos.

Gate workouts for 2-year-olds kicked off Tuesday morning (March 12) at Los Alamitos Race Course with 72 sprinters keeping the clocker busy. Videos of these workouts will be available for viewing at www.losalamitos.com later this week.
 
The bullet workout of the morning was posted by the Cody Joiner-trained Navea, a filly by Tac It Like A Man whose mother, Jess A Streakin Mate, is a half sister of Los Alamitos Winter Championship and Winter Derby winner A Stoli Mate. Navea had the morning's only :12.1 drill at 220 yards, but there were six other 2-year-olds that posted :12.2 drills.

Those with :12.2 clockings were Bad Fast, Monsters Ball, Race Day Delight, Dashin Dreams, Foose Is Loose and Diangelo.

Two-year-olds will need to post two official gate drills prior to making their racing debuts. The first set of futurity trials at Los Alamitos are the Kindergarten Futurity trials set for Sunday, May 5. The direct link for the video workouts is http://www.losalamitos.com/Workouts.aspx.
