It didn’t take freshman sire Coronas Leaving You long to record his first stakes winner, as his son Dash For Coronas upset Saturday’s $358,500 Oklahoma Futurity (G2) at Remington Park. Bred by Natalie Montgomery, D.V.M., owned by Javier Ramirez and trained by Javier Contreras, Dash For Coronas picked up $143,400 for the win to easily launch his sire to the top of the list for earnings by first-year stallions. Through Saturday, Coronas Leaving You has sired four winners and the earners of more than $190,000.

Coronas Leaving You began his career with seven straight victories, including the Firecracker Futurity (G2) at Delta Downs. The 2005 son of Corona Cartel also finished second in the Texas Classic Derby (G1) at Lone Star Park before retiring with a record of 13-9-1-0 and earnings of $278,358.

Coronas Leaving You is out of Grade 1 winner Lil Bit Rusty, an Easily Smashed mare who has produced three other stakes winners and the earners of nearly $2 million. Lil Bit Rusty’s top runner is the Chicks Beduino gelding Whosleavingwho, a millionaire who won the 2002 Champion of Champions (G1) on his way to a world champion title.

Coronas Leaving You, who has 42 registered foals of racing age this year, stands at Hart Farms near Kaplan, Louisiana, as property of Chad Hart.
