There’s a new No. 1 in this week’s AQHA Racing-Horseplayernow.com National Top-10 Poll for 2-year-olds, and it’s Ruidoso Futurity (G1) winner PJ Chick In Black. The filly overcame a tough start to notch her second stakes win this year, having captured the April 8 New Mexican Spring Futurity (RG2) at Sunland Park. Meanwhile, unanimous No. 1 Cold Cash 123 continues to reign over the national rankings for older horses.

PJ Chick In Black came into the Ruidoso Futurity as the No. 7-ranked runner in last week’s poll. Her big move was one of a trio of shake-ups in the juvenile rankings this week. Ruidoso Futurity runner-up Krash Cartel was awarded a No. 6 national ranking, while pollsters moved Blackberry Czech up one spot to No. 5 this week.

As for the older horses, the big move behind Cold Cash 123 came with Executive Brass’ rapid rise to No. 3. Unbeaten in four starts this year, Executive Brass notched his biggest career score in Saturday’s Ruidoso Derby (G1). Veteran gelding Noconi also returned to this week’s rankings at No. 10 after several weeks on the fringe of the poll.
