The Bank of America Challenge Championships will return to Prairie Meadows in 2014.

The Altoona, Iowa, racetrack hosted the event in 2012. A date for the 2014 event will be announced in the near future.

“We had such great feedback after the 2012 running, we’re excited to return to Iowa,” said AQHA Executive Director of Racing Trey Buck. “The facility, people and hospitality were outstanding and promise to be the same or even better next year.”

Prairie Meadows offers a top-class racetrack, with a 168-room hotel, casino and meeting areas all in one place.

“Prairie Meadows is very excited about the prospect of hosting the event again,” said Jack Peters, chairman of Prairie Meadows and an AQHA director. “The Challenge Championships encompasses horsemen from all over the country, as well as Mexico, Canada and South America. It’s a wonderful facility and this event fits extremely well in that kind of venue. I think it will provide the facility necessary for people to showcase their horses, some of the best horses in the country.”

The track becomes only the third racetrack to host the prestigious event more than once. Los Alamitos is a 10-time host of the event, and Lone Star Park has hosted the event four times. Other racetracks that have played host to the Challenge Championships once each are Evangeline Downs, Fair Grounds, Retama Park, Sam Houston Race Park, Sunland Park and Turf Paradise.
