Nine-time AQHA champion jockey G.R. Carter Jr. moved one spot closer to the top of the all-time career wins list on Sunday, as he tied and passed American Quarter Horse Hall of Fame rider Danny Cardoza to stand alone in second-place.

Carter captured one victory on Saturday night’s card at Remington Park to move him to within one of tying Cardoza’s total and then swept the daily double to open the Remington card on Sunday.

In the first race, Carter scored on the Rodney Reed trained Fly Or Dash in a maiden claiming event for 2-year-olds. The Fly Jess Fly filly runs for Rock N Race Partners. In the second, Carter powered an Ivory James filly named Ivory Diva to a three-quarter length victory for owner C.L. Anderson and trainer Arthur “Roe” Gordon. The win pushed Carter’s career total to 3,338 wins, which places him in second. Carter now stands 293 wins behind the all-time wins leader Alvin “Bubba” Brossette with a total of 3,631.
