The 2010 champion 2-year-old and champion 2-year-old colt American Runaway will stand his second season in Oklahoma at James Ranch, near Wayne. His fee will be $3,500.

Purchased in the 2009 Heritage Place Yearling Sale by Sammy and Johnny Martinez, the gray stallion began his championship campaign with a second place effort (by a nose) to Llano Teller in the $596,041 Remington Park Futurity (G1).

He then won the $500,000 Ruidoso Futurity (G1) before finishing second (by a nose) in the $625,000 Rainbow Futurity (G1). Bobby D. Cox purchased a half-interest in the colt prior to the Ruidoso Futurity. American Runaway ended the season with another second place effort (by a head) in the $1,036,612 Texas Classic Futurity (G1) at Lone Star Park.

The colt, by champion Ocean Runaway, won or placed in 12 of 15 career starts, earning $686,355. Cox purchased the remaining interest in American Runaway during his 3-year-old year.

Bred in Utah by Lance Robinson, American Runaway is out of the Grade 2-competitor Strawfly Special mare Allamericandreamgirl, a daughter of two-time champion filly and multiple champion producer Dashing Phoebe (609,553), by Dash For Cash.

Allamericandreamgirl is a half-sister to four-time champion and All American Futurity (G1) winner Heartswideopen ($1,885,283), champion Special Phoebe ($139,963), Grade 3 winner and multiple stakes sire Furyofthewind ($70,553), Grade 3 winner Dashingfordestiny ($56,961), Restricted Grade 3 winner Solid Demand ($35,842) and stakes-placed Especially Phoebe ($23,842).
