Race Record: Famous Corona Lady, a half-sister to leading sire One Famous Eagle, is the ninth-fastest qualifier to the All American Derby (G1).

The sorrel filly clocked :21.567 while winning the ninth trial by a head over Cobalt Creek, the fastest qualifier to the consolation, the $100,000 First Down Dash Stakes.

An earner of $53,422 who has won three of eight career races, Famous Corona Lady broke her maiden on first asking, in a trial to last year’s Ruidoso Futurity (G1). In the final, she finished fifth to Kiss My Hocks, the fifth-fastest qualifier to this year’s All American Derby.

Famous Corona Lady next won her Rainbow Futurity (G1) trial in a non-qualifying time, and then was third to Cobalt Creek in their All American Futurity (G1) trial.

The filly finished her freshman season at Los Alamitos, where she ran second in trials to the Grade 1 Golden State Million and Los Alamitos Two Million futurities.

Famous Corona Lady came into the August 23 All American Derby trials off a fourth-place run in her only start this season, an optional claiming race on July 18 at Ruidoso.

Breeder: A top-20 leading owner and 10-year breeder, AQHA Past President Johnny Trotter of Hereford, Texas, bred Famous Corona Lady and One Famous Eagle out of his Chicks Beduino mare One Famous Lady. Horses he has bred have earned almost $3 million after 683 starts and 91 wins, including stakes wins with One Famous Eagle, Dash Back Perry, Famous Cartel Lady, Jess Cranky and Jess Glory.

Owner: Jon and Donna McPherson of Pineville, Louisiana, bought Famous Corona Lady at the 2013 Ruidoso Select Yearling Sale for $155,000.

Trainer: Wes Giles of Vado, New Mexico, won the 2014 All American Derby with Too Flash For You and his horses have lifetime starts of 5,888 with 951 wins and 110 stakes wins with earnings exceeding $16.8 million.

Jockey: Jockey Adrian Ramos has 1,787 lifetime starts and 178 wins, including 13 stakes wins. His recent stakes wins include the 2015 Sunland Championship Challenge with Wagon Full Of Gold, the 2015New Mexican Spring Futurity with Jess Cruzin On By and the 2015 Zia Derby with Astica, to name a few.

Pedigree: Famous Corona Lady is one of 863 winners from 1,242 starters in 15 crops raced by Corona Cartel ($557,142). A 21-year-old son of the First Down Dash stallion Holland Ease, Corona Cartel is the leading living sire of racing American Quarter Horses with progeny earnings of more than $48.7 million. The sire of seven champions and 136 other stakes winners, Corona Cartel is owned by a syndicate and stands at Lazy E Ranch at Guthrie, Oklahoma.

Famous Corona Lady is one of eight winners from 15 starters out of the graded stakes-placed Chicks Beduino mare One Famous Lady ($172,515), who lit the board in champion First To Flash’s Rainbow Futurity (G1) and Silvered Eyes’ Rainbow Derby (G1), finished fifth in Snow Big Deal’s All American Derby and earned black type with a third-place run in Corona Coquette’s KHEY/Y96 Handicap (G3) at Sunland Park.

The dam of earners of more than $1.6 million, One Famous Lady also produced the stakes-winning Corona Cartel mare Famous Cartel Lady ($17,782) and the stakes-placed First Down Dash gelding One Famous Ferragamo ($56,898).
