Lajolla Famosa Streaks Into John Deere Juvenile Challenge Championship

Riding a five-race win streak, Lajolla Famosa is the 3-1 morning-line favorite in Friday's $150,000 John Deere Juvenile Challenge Championship (G2) at Fair Grounds Race Course in New Orleans. The 350-yard race for 2-year-olds is part of the 18th Bank of America Racing Challenge Championships, the season-ending championship event of AQHA's purse and bonus awards program.
Lajolla Famosa, a 2-yearold Streakin La Jolla gelding who is trained by Bret Vickery, has done most of his racing in the Intermountain region, but also has two starts, including a win, at Los Alamitos. He has six wins in eight starts.
On November 16, post positions for the Challenge Championship were drawn at a brunch at Fair Grounds. The Juvenile Challenge Championship starters, in post position order with their jockeys and morning-line odds, are:

John Deere supports the Bank of America Racing Challenge Juvenile series, the John Deere Bonus Challenge and awards a John Deere Gator to the John Deere Racing Challenge Champion Owner. In 2010, the Challenge Champion Owners are Lajolla Famosa's owners, Gary and Jeralyn Messenger of Idaho Falls, Idaho. The Messengers also bred the gelding.
