The creation of The Horse Collection is a unique process for sculptor Al Glann. Unlike other works, the equine models are originally designed in steel using minimal sized pieces that are representative of the massive bodies in motion. The form is exaggerated, giving each piece the sense of what the artist sees and feels the personality of that horse to be. The essence of the form – the line, weight, and movement – is highlighted in the negative space to define that personality. The final forms are cast in bronze.
Al Glann has been creating sculpture for over 25 years. He received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Columbus College of Art and Design and a Master’s from Northern Arizona University.
