Battle in the Saddle is proud to partner with the National Reined Cow Horse Association in presenting classes for reined cow horse competitors of all skill levels and types of experience. From the most elite cow horse competitors to those in the limited classes, Battle in the Saddle offers something for everyone.

The 2012 Battle in the Saddle working cow horse classes will offer two sets of AQHA points, plus $10,000 added for NRCHA entries. 

Patterns

  • Pattern 4 will be used for NRCHA open two-reing, NRCHA non-pro two-rein, AQHA youth working cow horse and NRCHA youth bridle.
  • Pattern 11 will be used for AQHA amateur, junior and senior working cow horse; NRCHA open and limited open hackamore; NRCHA non-pro, intermediate non-pro and novice non-pro bridle; NRCHA non-pro limited; NRCHA non-pro hackamore; and NRCHA open and limited open bridle.
  • Pattern 12 will be used for AQHA youth boxing, NRCHA youth limited, AQHA amateur boxing and NRCHA non-pro limited.
  • Pattern 11 will be used for the World's Greatest Shootout.

Information

  • To compete in the Battle in the Saddle working cow horse classes, all riders and horse owners must be current, card-holding members in good standing with the NRCHA and the exhibitor must be a current individual member in good standing with the AQHA. AQHA memberships can be purchased at the show.
  • Health papers and negative Coggins (1 year) required at barn check-in.
  • A current copy of the horse’s registration paper, no matter the breed, will be required at time of entry in order to verify current ownership.
  • All premiums shall be paid according to the current NRCHA rules and regulations, depending on the total money added.  For more information, see the NRCHA rulebook.
  • All working cow horse classes will be one go-round.
  • All entries will be judged by AQHA- and NRCHA-certified judges.
  • Ties will be broken according to the current NRCHA rules.
  • Show management reserves the right to limit the number of entries taken.
  • All entry forms, including the AQHA and NRCHA waiver of liability, must be signed by an owner, agent or exhibitor.
  • All entry forms must include the owner's social security number.
  • All entries will be made through AQHA, P.O. Box 200, Amarillo, Texas 79168.
  • Horses will be allowed on the show grounds beginning at noon on July 2.
