Better Barrel Races 2012 Regional Challenge Tour Location

All Regional Challenge Tour Events double regional points & double world finals qualifiers. Members must attend at least one Regional Challenge event to compete in BBR Regional Finals members only Incentive Racel Sidepot at BBR Regional Finals. 4D or 5D format with 1/2- second splits.

  • Health papers and negative Coggins (1 year) required at barn check-in.
  • No refunds except as indicated below.
  • Dress code and hat rule will be enforced.
  • All entries must check in at the show office and pick up their numbers before competing.
  • For all runs, there is $10 cash fine for all exhibitors losing their hat during their go.
  • Horse substitutions must be made in the show office before the first horse runs in each race; no rider substitutions.
  • No switching of draw positions.
  • All reruns will be the decisions of the arena director; rerun will be on fresh drag. Arena directors' decisions are final. A horse falling during run will not receive a rerun.
  • Failure to answer three gate calls will result in official's scratch.
  • Contestants will receive a no time for breaking the pattern. 
  • Contestants will receive a no time for a knocked over barrel, except in the AQHA classes where there will be a +5 second penalty for each barrel knocked over.
  • In no instance shall a contestant circle a barrel more than once.
  • A tie for awards will be handled by a flip of a coin between contestants tied.
  • Late Entries: Late entries must be received before first horse runs in each race. Add $25 per horse if the entry is not received in the AQHA office by 4:59 p.m. on June 22; no exceptions. Late entries will have a separate draw and run after pre-entries.
  • Vet Out Rule: Vet and medical releases for all entries must be received in the show office before the race starts. All applicable entry fees and unused stall fees will be returned to the contestant. AQHA will still retain 25 percent of the entry’s jackpot amount.
  • A current copy of the horse’s registration paper, no matter the breed, or verification of ownership will be required at time of entry. Winnings will be paid to the recorded owner or lessee of the horse at the time of entry.
  • Show management reserves the right to limit the number of entries taken.
  • All entry forms, including the AQHA waiver of liability, must be signed by an owner, agent or exhibitor.
  • All entry forms must include the owner's social security number.
  • To be eligible for the short go, contestants have to enter both days. It is the contestant’s option to run both days. However, a contestant may enter one long-go (only).
  • All AQHA classes will be held concurrently (one run). The time from one run will carry to all AQHA classes entered. 
  • AQHA current membership is only required to compete in the AQHA portion.
  • The event will be run on a 4D format. The fastest 10 times, in each division, from both long-go’s, will be invited to the finals in that division.
  • 1D, fastest time of race; 2D, fastest time of race plus one-half second; 3D, fastest time of race plus one second; 4D, fastest time of race plus two seconds.
  • Payback of added money will be as follows:
    • 40 percent in the first long go-round
    • 40 percent in the second long go-round
    • 20 percent  in the finals
  • Payback per division will be as follows:
    • 35 percent for the 1D
    • 30 percent for the 2D
    • 20 percent for the 3D
    • 15 percent for the 4D
  • Show management will retain 25 percent of the total jackpot.
  • The number of paybacks per division will be determined after the entry deadline.
  • Payback checks will be sent to the recorded owner on the entry form after July 31, 2012.

  • Horses will be allowed on show grounds at noon on July 2.
